Recording Orem Provo Utah Control Room The studio has added some nice new features that you might be interested in. We have added a Vintech 473 (4 Neve 1073 sounding preamps) to its collection. We have also added a 5×7 Whisper Room. This room is a giant vocal booth that allows great communication visually between the musician and the producer or other band members while mantaining a great deal of isolation from noise. The Whisper Room is great for recording vocals, acoustic guitar and guitar amps. Projects such as books on CD and other type of voice recording are other projects that can benefit greatly from the Whisper Room. Check out the new pictures posted under the pictures tab.

Pro Tools HD with a Mac Pro

Provo Orem Utah Recording Pro ToolsNoisebox Studios is now running a full blown Pro Tools HD system. Pro Tools HD is the most popular recording software found in professional studios world wide. With our Pro Tools system, we are able to record and play back up to 192 audio tracks at the same time with hundreds of midi tracks and over 160 auxillary busses/tracks. Our Pro Tools system includes all of the HD3 plug-ins including compressors that give the sound of high end analogue gear such as the 1176, LA-3A, Purple Audio MC77, Fair Child 660 and 670, JoeMeek SC2 and many, many more. Pro Tools runs flawless with our Waves Platinum Bundle which are popular for their amazing sound and quality. Melodyne (pitch correction software) is also compatible inside of Pro Tools.

Pro Tools is known for its amazing audio editing capabilities. If you plan to record all audio, or mainly audio, we suggest that you choose Pro Tools to have the most flexibility and most power available to make the recording process of your project the most transparent. If you plan to use lots of midi, synths, loops and other music production tools, then we suggest Sonar for the job.

With Pro Tools HD running on our Mac Pro which includes Quad Xeon Processors from Intel, we will have plenty of power for your most demanding recording needs.

ADL 600 Tube Pre

ADL 600The ADL 600 is one of the new addition to the studio. This high end mic preamp is an amazing 3 tubes per channel pre amp designed by Anthony DeMaria. This preamp was awarded a TEC nomination for outstanding technical achievements in microphone preamplifier technology. It is great on just about everything you would like to record. It will make your recordings sound larger than life while maintaining a very open and clear top end. The low end is tight and punchy and although it adds slight compression, their is something magical about the way this pre enhances the transients instead of smashing them. It is on the cleaner side of tube pre’s in that it has an extremely quiet noise floor and adds a more subtle, yet noticeable tube color to the recording signal that passes through it. This pre amp is used on many large budget recordings and hits today. In other words, if you are ready to sound your best, come record your next project with the ADL 600.

City of Ashburn at Noisebox Studios

City of Ashburn 2City of Ashburn begins the process of Mixing their projects at Noisebox Studios in Orem. City of Ashburn has been busy for the past year recording their tracks with their own equipment. They are well known for their excellent songwriting teamed up with brilliant guitar melodies with a large palette of unique sounds. Their creativity has lead them to create large scale projects.
One of their songs, “On The Losing Team” (you can listen to this song on our demos page) is composed of 58 brilliantly composed tracks.  Their new album will all be mixed at Noisebox Studios.
Many more bands and artists are becoming interested in recording their own music, but don’t have the experience and knowledge to add the proper mixing and mastering techniques to create a professional result. Mixing is an art in itself and just like a musical instrument, it takes years of experience to learn and master. Not only are the techniques important, but the software (plug-ins), proper monitors (speakers), gear, and room treatment are essential to this process and can be very pricey. Noisebox Studios is a solution to the many artists and bands in these categories that prefer recording themselves, but would like the mixing and mastering done professionally.

Our mixing techniques will add excitement, creativity, punch, and clarity to your album. Our mixing includes many steps. Some of our techniques include:

1) Shaping each individual track using EQ, Compression, analog simulated plug-ins and modulation when needed; 2) Adding a variety of different reverbs, delays, split harmonies, panning and etc. to give the tracks their space; 3) Advanced routing techniques to add punch and control; 4) Detailed automation with our Digital Mixer to add dynamic excitement to the mix as well as bringing the important tracks forward at the right time; 5) and more.

We mix with the highest quality software and equipment. We use Sonar with its 64 bit Double Precision Floating Point Engine. We also use the industry standard Waves Plug-ins with a variety of plug-ins from other great companies such as Voxengo and Sony. We listen to the mix with two sets of high quality monitors and a variety of headphones. We use the Event ASP8’s as our main monitors but also our M-Audio BX5’s to listen to the mix with less low end. We also listen with Studio Headphones as well as a variety of consumer headphones ranging with different characteristics to get a mix that will sound great on many different systems. Our rooms are acoustically treated so that we can hear the mix accurately.

If you are interested in having Noisebox Studios to do your mixing, contact us and we can discuss more of the details. We offer a no risk policy on your first song where you can have us mix the songs with no commitment to pay unless you choose to keep the mix.
