Our Utah based production company is interested in reviewing and considering your music for scoring our film short in this competition, as well as future film projects when applicable. Those interested must sign a Music Release Form. I had the opportunity recently to judge Utah’s Multi-Regional Battle 2008 here in Utah on February 2nd. This was an opportunity to see some of the most talented High School bands from Salt Lake City and Utah Valley. In truth, I was absolutely blown away by the level of talent that is becoming prevalent in High School Bands.
No doubt that the talent level grows more every year as competition between bands continues to grow. As a judge, I had the responsibility to judge the bands in many different categories including technicality, musicianship, creativity, crowd participation and etc. The final goal was to pick the top three bands to go to State. This previously would be a simple task. However, this year the competition was very close. In fact, all of the bands scores were within a few points.
The winners were Cluster Funk, Gypsy Cab and This Way to the Exit. These three bands also won some time recording at Noisebox Studios and I hope to have the permission to post their recordings to show how talented the bands in Utah have become. Check out the Demos page in the near future to hear recordings of the bands.
Noisebox Studios Sponsors City Weekly Slammy’s 2008

Many of the winners of the Slammys competition will be recording songs at Noisebox Studios in the future weeks and months to come.

Owner of Noisebox Studios, Dave Zimmerman, is passionate about recording. He graduated from BYU with a Bachelor of Music in Percussion with a Media Music Emphasis. While at school, Dave worked as a percussion teacher at Crescent School of Music (The Music School) for four years. During this time, he began recording local bands such as Dissonance and Chili Davis. He also worked with Drums on Demand with developing accurate drum loops. After graduation, he moved to St. George where he was one of the front of the house Sound Engineers for Tuacahn during the shows of Beauty and the Beast and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat for about 100 shows. He also worked sound for Thriller, Festival of Lights and other concerts. While working at Tuacahn in St. George, he continued recording demos and began working with the band Kennedy. Since moving from St. George, Dave has decided to take recording the most serious in his career and has carefully planned and developed Noisebox Studios. His experience and education in music, recording and sound will prove beneficial to anyone needing to record or create music/sound productions.
